Time for another adventure in the Sinnoh region, this is Pokémon Legends: Arceus. This game takes place way back when the Sinnoh region was called the Hisui region, and this game is like an open-world game. The main character ends up in the region after an encounter with Arceus, and is given the task of catching every Pokémon in the Hisui region.

Here is the open-world Pokémon game, Game Freak did say that it wasn't open-world, it does kind of feel like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in terms of the world.
I did read somewhere that the main character of this game comes from the present time, and fell through space and time and ended up in Hisui, and the canon names are Rei and Akari, not Lucas and Dawn like in the present, despite their resemblance.
Then we meet up with Professor Laventon, and his Pokémon run off, and I then pick up the Arc Phone, a smartphone device themed around Arceus, and I am then tasked to capture Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott, and the third Pokémon will always break out of a Poké Ball, and if you run out of Poké Balls, talk to Laventon to get some more.
Go with Laventon to Jubilife Village, and the villagers will be suspicious of you, and you then meet up with the player character of the opposite gender, that is Akari or Rei, as well as Captain Cyllene, I am sure I am not the only person that thinks she looks like Cyrus of Team Galactic, there are character that do resemble the present day characters, and Jubilife Village would become Jubilife City in present day Sinnoh.
You then go to your quarters, and the next morning, well we get a cutscene where lightning strikes down, and it is interesting in seeing that dark cloud around what is supposed to be Mt. Coronet, because what other tall mountain does the Sinnoh region, or Hisui in this case, have?
After you wake up, as I am playing as the girl in this game, I will be referring to the opposite gender character as Rei, you go to Galaxy Hall, I don't know if Galaxy Expedition Team is meant to be a reference to Team Galactic. After taking to Cyllene, she tells you about missions and requests, and she tasks me in catching a Bidoof, Starly, and Shinx in Obsidian Fieldlands, and we become a member of the Survey Corps, and Laventon then gives me one of the Starter Pokémon, and I do like how you have Starter Pokémon from other regions you can choose from.
I will go over each of them, first is Rowlet, the Grass-type starter from Alola, Rowlet is a Grass/Flying-type, it will have Gust and it learns Leafage at Level 6. Rowlet can learn moves like Roost and Aerial Ace through level up, and it specializes in attacking, and if you are wondering, I won't go too much into detail about the evolved forms, even though they are Starter Pokémon from other regions, they have new final evolutions in this game.
Then we have Cyndaquil, the Fire-type starter from Johto, it is the fastest out of the starters, Cyndaquil has Quick Attack, and it can learn Ember, Rollout, and Flame Wheel for moves, it usually prefers Special Attacks, and it has good Speed to put it to use.
The Water-type Oshawott from Unova is also an attacker, but it usually tends to prefer Special Attacks, it has Tackle and can learn Aqua Jet, Swords Dance, and Water Pulse for moves. Oshawott is the more balanced out of the three, and it can be used as a Mixed Attacker if you want to use it that way.
After choosing your starter, you meet up with Volo, he will challenge you with his Togepi, this should be an easy fight. Then when you go out to Obsidian Fieldlands, you start your task, Pokémon have different behaviours, Bidoof tend to be a bit friendly, so you can catch it without too much trouble, Starly fly away when you approach them, so try to be sneaky, that is crouch into the grass and throw a Poké Ball at it without it noticing, and Shinx has an aggressive personality, it will attack you, so you have to battle it in order to catch it. There are trees you can have your Pokémon attack in order to drop Berries and Apricorns, you can get materials which can be used for crafting, which I will go over in the next part.
Then report to Cyllene, and she gives you the Galaxy Survey Corps uniform, which you have to put on, and then go back and talk to her. After that, talk to Commander Kamado, he is on the third floor of Galaxy Hall, and he is a sumo wrestler, and report to him to complete the mission, and then talk to Cyllene, and then Rei will show you how to craft, I will save that for the next part.
