I am playing as Pichu for this Classic Mode video, and what I do for Classic Mode is that I randomize a list to decide my next characters I will play as, the playlist displays the fighters in order of how they are displayed on the roster. Pichu's Classic Mode route is Lightweight Fracas, and all of Pichu's opponents are lightweight characters, this is because Pichu is the lightest character in the game, and the stages take place in the sky.
To unlock Pichu, there are many different ways, one of them is Vs. Matches, where Pichu is the 34th character to be unlocked, and it is the last character unlocked by completing Classic Mode with Pikachu or anyone in its unlock tree after Mr. Game & Watch.
In Round 1, you fight against Jigglypuff, and the stage is Pokémon Stadium, in Round 2, you fight against Squirtle on Peach's Castle, and in Japanese, the stage is called Above Peach's Castle, and in the early screenshots, the stage was called "In the Sky of Castle Peach", which could be why this stage was picked. In Round 3, your opponent is Mr. Game & Watch, and he is fought on Skyworld, in Round 4, you fight against Olimar, and the stage is Pilotwings. In Round 5, it is a free-for-all match against Kirby and Meta Knight, and the stage is Skyloft, and in Round 6, you fight against Mewtwo on Prism Tower.
Next up is the Bonus Stage, and at the end, you fight against Master Hand, and if you are playing on Intensity 7.0 or higher, you will have to fight Crazy Hand as well.
After completing Classic Mode, the credits roll, and the music is Pokémon Gold / Pokémon Silver Medley, which used to be called Battle Theme in Melee, and Pokémon Stadium 2 in either Brawl or Smash 4. You then unlock the Fighter Spirit for Pichu if you completed Classic Mode with it for the first time. Even if Pichu's Classic Mode route is about fighting lightweight characters, Fox, Sheik, Pikachu, and Zero Suit Samus do not appear as opponents, Kirby, Olimar, and Mewtwo are tied with Pikachu, while Mr. Game & Watch and Squirtle are tied with each other, Sheik and Fox are placed in between, and Zero Suit Samus is tied with Meta Knight, and if you count DLC characters, Sephiroth is tied with Kirby, Mewtwo, and Olimar. Even if the Classic Mode route stages take place in the sky, stages like Halberd, Rainbow Cruise, and Corneria do not appear.
