Happy April Fools Day 2025 from #SuperOldGameSaturday and, for our 5th annual show to look at a game that's not very good, is worth discussing and/or is worth a laugh, we went big by playing the video game equivalent of the 2003 film, The Room (and that might be an insult to The Room); Plumbers Don't Wear Ties. If you don't know of this game, it's an infamous PC/3DO release from the early 1990s that's a politically incorrect dating sim that tells its story via a picture slideshow about a plumber that DOES wear a tie and a blond bombshell trying to meet each other and get their parents to stop demanding they find a significant other. Words do not do this certainly not for children experience justice, which now has a modern re-release (I used the Nintendo Switch version for this play), and myself and the best chat on Twitch, including ElecVerse, Cazim22, DollyFinn, suikathemerondge and gemiknight96, went all the way with this one, seeing all of the insane choices and developments of this plot, reacting to what we saw here and, thanks to this new version, get the answers of "what were they thinking?" by diving into tons of documentary material (and some other surprises) to put this "game" into context and perhaps understand something that should otherwise defy all logic and reason. We had a great time as our brains exploded watching this (to the point where I'm not sure yet where we go from here with next year's April Fools Day show) and I once again thank our great chat for their contributions and insights that made for such a great show.
