Tales Of Kenzera: ZAU (Steam Next Fest Demo)

If you watched The Game Awards in 2023, you may remember Abubakar Salim’s heartfelt speech about creating a piece of art to honour his late father. If you’ve been looking forward to the game in question as much as I have, then I have good news: it’s out next week!
This video- which I recorded in February using the Steam Next Fest demo- shows the first section of that demo, and in true Metroidvania style it culminates with a search for a key and some backtracking to unlock a door. There’s also a solid combat system on show here, along with some fantastic art direction, music and voice acting.
Considering that this is from a brand new indie studio, the demo felt surprisingly polished and gives me great hope for the full game.
PS: I know that EA is a AAA publisher, but EA Originals is their ‘indie publishing arm’ so I guess this counts? Either way, the game is so good (so far) that it wouldn’t feel right to omit it from the channel on a technicality like that.
