85Attachment to another person is a VERY important part of life and personality development.
Without healthy attachment, a personality can become complex all the way into adulthood.
Personality pathology is also an important concept.
Within a toxic family dynamic, personality can develop into many forms to protect the individual from the dynamics at play. But in some situations, attachment trauma may be the result of an insecure attachment.
Attachment trauma is often a lifelong mountain to climb for individuals who have developed an insecure, anxious, or avoidant attachment. And things can become more complicated if a personality disorder is part of the equation.
