TwinBee Famicom / NES CRT TV Playthrough asmr
2Released 1/4/1986, TwinBee for Famicom is a solid port by Konami of their arcade co-op shmup. The Spice King has invaded Paradise Island in the year 2801 and the only thing stopping him from stealing the Jewel of Paradise is the reclusive Doctor Cinnamon and his two brave sons. Piloting rocket-powered TwinBee and WinBee, they must use Power Bells to enhance the speed, armor, and weaponry of each craft. Enemies usually come in the form of flying kitchen items (🔪, 🍓, 🧁, etc.), and four mini-bosses stand between you and the Spice King himself.
TwinBee provides one of the best couch co-op experiences on the Famicom, so it's a shame it never made it to the NES. The arcade version never left Japan, so it would have been unknown in the West. The sequel, Stinger, originally released for the Famicom Disk System, would make it to the NES in 1997. If you are looking to start collecting Famicom games, this one is a great place to start. The MSX also has a nice version of TwinBee with enhanced audio and a manual in English.
I am considering a playthrough to be beating the Hi-Score. I played on an original NES with a Game Genie adapter (see Shorts) to allow for playing a Famicom cartridge. I am using a NES Advantage controller, RCA cables, and a Sharp X-Flat 27" CRT TV.
