Microsol's Ixmucane task force is in full disarray. Attacked on all fronts, they are scrambling to at least save their military research facilities. All their communications are intercepted, if not jammed, and Gencore is all-to-eager to get their hands on the technology that made Microsol so superior militarily.

Trent escaped from the tunnels of Ixmucane. It is now trivial for him to simply fly up, towards space, where it is cold indeed, but at least where there is no atmosphere to literally freeze around him. He's not in a hurry, and therefore assists Gencore in its attack on the remaining Microsol fleets. It is, after all, important to destroy as many as possible. The secondary Core is heating the planet up, but it draws energy from the planet's power grid, and Microsol must not be given a chance to shut it down.

Besides, Trent intercepts transmissions that an exceedingly powerful weapon is being tested in this area. And last but not least, Trent has the Stalker 21.126 to use on a test flight...

Secret level, special level.

Fly through an icy landscape at high speed. Either you're going to the military base on Camanis, or a random one on a freezing Ixmucane, or maybe the story just doesn't care.

Anyway, after the first part, you'll reach normal speeds, get a cone of vision through sudden darkness, hear the music change, and see a Special Weapon floating around.

And here you must decide : Which is best Special Weapon for Engage Mode? Until now it was either the Ice Beam or the Repulsor. Here you'll get a dual laser shooting weapon. It's nice, but not as strong... but...
After wreaking havoc on the base and avoiding an annoying laser ship from behind, you'll get another Special Weapon, as soon as the darkness disappears and the speed rises again : The SDF Main Gun.

Player, meet SDF. SDF, meet player.

First, let me say the level itself isn't too hard ; avoid the barely-homing laser ship, destroy the turrets, and you're done.
As soon as the speed raises, get the SDF, IF you want it. The level may end without you getting it (I believe ; never tried it).

This weapon is a shout out to another game from Epic or XSIV. I forgot which one. Anyway, it's a white/blue laser that shoots for a while, devastating anything in its path. Great at damaging large ships, ships in a line, and its width makes it possible to hit enemies while standing out of their fire.
However, keep in mind Special Weapons such as this one FIRE FOR LONGER THE HIGHER YOUR FRONT WEAPON LEVEL IS. The SDF Main Gun has a very shot recharge speed, so you can spam it anyway, but it's not worth as much if your Atomic Railgun is low-leveled.

Keep that in mind, and decide which weapon is the best. My opinion?
If you have many lives, go for the SDF Main Gun. If not, keep the Repulsor/Ice Beam. Which one the last two is better? That depends on each level, but both are defensive in nature, whereas the SDF is purely offensive.

Oh, and if you took the laser at the start of the level, take the SDF at the end. It's stronger than the laser. Try it out, and take a Repulsor/Ice Beam on the next occasion, if you decide so.
