Ubuntu 14.04 VS Windows 8 : Boot Up and Shutdown with a Corsair Force LS 3 SSD
Boot Up and Shutdown times of Ubuntu 14.04 versus Windows 8, using a Corsair Force LS 3 SSD!
With the release of Ubuntu 14.04, many have asked for a redo of this video. I am glad to say, here it is!
What's new in Ubuntu 14.04 to warrant a retest? First off, it has TRIM support now for SSDs (something older Ubuntu's don't have). Secondly, it is an LTS release, so this video may serve to help many people in the coming 5 years of support.
Both operating systems were installed on the exact same SSD, and had no applications running when shutting them down.
This video does NOT represent the entire community of Linux or Windows users, and certainly doesn't cover everyone's hardware experiences. This video simply illustrates what I experience with said operating systems and specified hardware.
Your mileage with the exact same setup may vary in the end.
On a last note, both OS's run very nicely on the SSD. Ubuntu 14.04 has managed to fix that rather long shutdown time bug that Ubuntu 13.10 was experiencing. I'm loving it so far!
