I recently was gifted an Asus G750JX laptop, and decided to get another SSD to use as a boot drive for this machine. In the process of installing it, I figured it would be cool to compare the times between both operating systems.
Why the small rant at the end? Windows is a paid for OS, yet on day one of usage I'm already experiencing system breaking problems (Windows self induced too far that fact!)
Why showcase another SSD video for Ubuntu 14.04 against Windows? First off, Ubuntu has TRIM support now for SSDs (something older Ubuntu's don't have). Secondly, it is an LTS release, so this video may serve to help many people in the coming 5 years of support.
Both operating systems were installed on the exact same SSD, and had no additional applications/programs installed or running.
This video does NOT represent the entire community of Linux or Windows users, and certainly doesn't cover everyone's hardware experiences. This video simply illustrates what I experience with said operating systems and specified hardware.
Your mileage with the exact same setup may vary in the end.
On a last note, both OS's run very nicely on the SSD. Ubuntu and Windows are practically on par after updating and installing their respective graphics drivers. The only real difference occurs before either system is truly usable.
