Glitch wielding a shield in place of a sword and glitch wielding a non-ranged weapon in the shield slot has the secondary effect of providing an attack stat far greater than the shield's defence values, regardless of the wielded weapon's stats. If you don't see it, drag the weapon (and/or shield) into the distance and the attack stat appears.

This is still just a tidbit, because:
- only the kite shield provides amazing attack power and it is obtained late in the game
- the range seems to be next to useless
- there's a high chance for crashes

In the second part of the video you also can see that the shield inherits some of the special abilities of the held weapon, like the freezing effect of the frost shield. Only shields seem to do this, so you can't make a broadsword or the like freeze targets.

Some extra considerations:
- having the glass sword as held weapon breaks it upon a successful hit and puts the broken sword into the right hand, while the shield shoots up into the sky
- doesn't seem to work with armour pieces, so the troll chest wasn't recovering my HP when held in hand with a shield
- I once somehow could conserve the purple glow of the staff of dead, so it stayed there no matter what I glitch-wielded, but I never could replicate it. Also, before I could check what happens when I put the staff of dead back into the Avatar's hand, the game crashed

Now, I don't know how all this fits into this whole slots and wielding story. Only thing seems apparent is that the game still tries to keep track, where should the equipped items be. Maybe in some cases it just checks if a certain weapon is equipped, not in what slot it is, not expecting it be in the wrong slot. Or there indeed would have been bigger freedom in equipment handling.
