If you manage to get close to the treasure pile in the Abyss without crossing the line before it, you are actually free to take anything. You can do this for example by opening a book while jumping, which teleports the Avatar at the jump destination instantly. As I learned, it's a common trick for dedicated players (speedrunners and the like).

The only unique item I saw there was the eggplant (I think it's an eggplant), at least I don't remember seeing it anywhere else. It heals as few HP as the other vegetables and doesn't seem to do anything special while glitch wielding. I will check if a shop buys it, but probably none of them will.

As you see, only the objects already being there vanish when the beholder actually appears, not anything else you place on the pedestal. Also, if you take something into inventory or wield it, it likewise stays with you.

The Beholder doesn't seem to be physically there while the treasure heap is present, so you can't kill it prematurely.

The pedestal largely seems unresponsive, nothing happened as I kept placing magic activators on it, like coloured orbs.
