Ultima IX - Tidbits #48: Replace the small fire SFX
If you use the infernal armour (via spell, scroll or potion), you leave small flames on the ground as you move around.
Now, if you wield a weapon (in battle stance) that has an associated impact attack sound effect and an NPC walks into the flame, the weapon's SFX is heard instead.
Being barehanded or glitch-wielding something that is not meant for the weapon slot or not being in battle stance don't provide this effect. All of this seems just audio, so the flame won't get to be stronger and won't hold the effect of the wielded weapon.
Further testing hints at that the same works for any other fire that can hurt NPCs, like campfires, but only when the infernal armour effect is on. Though this was unwieldy to test, so I might miss something.
