[Vigor] MAP11: Spelunking (UV-Max Demo)
now that i've completed map10, i can move on with the rest of the maps relatively guilt free. this one is one where the obvious approach isn't necessarily the best. the map is initially populated by some low-tier monsters. picking up the key causes a bunch of revenants and evil marines to teleport in. it winds up to be far better to leave the low tier monsters alive and provoke infighting between them and the revenants and evil marines when possible. now that we're fighting evil marines in the open it's a little less bad as they're pretty vulnerable to circle strafing and getting funneled into narrow corridors, although trying to tag them with the rocket launcher is pretty unwieldy and the other weapons are generally too slow. after a kind of obnoxious cave area that has a bunch of rockets and specters to encourage facerocketing. then the final area drops you into a cave with a bunch of archviles and other monsters... and half of it is covered in 20-damage lava. and there's no radsuit. there is an easily accessible safe space and a secret megasphere, which is at least something.
