Why It's Called The Legend of Zelda [Advent Calendar #5]
The Legend of Zelda is a very famous series of games, obviously, which is in part named after Zelda Fitzgerald, obviously. But why?
Well, apparently, Shigeru Miyamoto got the idea from... a PR guy. Someone in Marketing at Nintendo suggested that the basic premise for the game would make a good storybook, and suggested naming the game after Zelda. Miyamoto liked the name, but wasn't too keen on the storybook idea.
That's a shame. We'd love to have a Zelda storybook! Heck, maybe we need to make one ourselves...
Anyway, thanks very much for the feedback on our last Advent Calendar video about Metroid - specifically your feedback on how much its title hurt you on a deeply personal level. You'll be pleased to know that we very much enjoyed reading your angry comments, and that we cackled with glee at each and every one. Mwahahaha.
Might actually do Why Zelda is a Boy in a few days' time... Heheheh...
Lots of love and see you tomorrow,
