Yet again, I have conquered another map record! I could have definitely gone a lot better, but i'll happily let someone else do that for me!

Yet again, I am sorry for this coming out so late. It's 13 days past halloween and I have released a Tangerine Nightmare wr video. Shocking right? This did take a while to get on one hand, but on the other I have also been speedrunning other maps such as maps from Scythe X. Not only that but I have also been busy with schoolwork, but it's finally done and I can sit back and relax for the time being.

I have a feeling map 5 of tn.wad will come much later, as I am revealing that as of a No Nut November tribute, I will speedrun Nuts3 on the UV-Max category! When I finish this task, it will sadly be my greatest achievement in Doom history.

Now I can talk about the level and how i found it. I personally didn't really enjoy it as much as Map 3 however the final fight really did get the juices flowing. I enjoy slaughtery combat such as that last part at the exit gate, but sadly in these runs I found a way to pretty much cheese the entire fight. It did suck the fun out of it a bit, but what's more satisfying is getting a record!

The combat itself is a bit annoying, with the main example being the "monster window dressing". Getting around the map wasn't so much fun, since I was constantly being sniped by bullshitty revenant missiles. And especially when it's over 60 damage, it really does put me in a very bad mood. Plus that hell knight at the start is a bit of a placement that gets on my nerves, I didn't enjoy backtracking for that kill.

bad things out of the way, now onto the good parts, which there is a lot to talk about. The trap with the cacodemons and pain elementals at first seems stupid, but once you deal with it correctly and aggressively, it turns out to be much more fun than expected. The room with the mancubus and the arch vile is probably the biggest run killer, however if you deal with it the way I do (most likely the incorrect way of actually doing it), it throws a bit of a curveball and actually turns out to be fun. I like the addition of the cacodemons that join in halfway through the level and the end fight is a spectacle of it's own. Whoever designed these fights, this was fantastic and you deserve the credit for it!

Now we've discussed how balanced the map was, time to talk about the speedrun itself. I thought this would have taken me longer than it did. 200 attempts doesn't seem too long, however the map is over 10 minutes long on casual playthrough, so it's pretty long! Once again Poncho had the former record for this map and beating it was a bit of a challenge. There were some peculiar strategies on the former run but I doubt some of my movements were any better lol.

Definitely the hardest part of the run was either grabbing the rocket launcher or the mancubus room. The revenants in this map were definitely a big hurdle for me and I will probably start practicing on how to efficiently dodge their homing projectiles. When grabbing the rocket launcher the pillars really didn't prove to help me stop the homing missiles, so it was quite a scary situation. And if you don't deal with the mancubus room quick enough, the monsters can really hinder your movement, so stay on guard and play aggressively at all costs.

Grabbing the super shotgun first for me was definitely a highlight of the run that was different to the former run, it made the maze room a lot easier, since i didn't have to shotgun a hell knight to death (which takes quite a while).

Overall, I like this level. Even if I had a lot of annoying experiences during my runs, the fights were ultimately really fun and creative. This would definitely be a treat to play on casual playthrough!
