I'm super surprised this map comes later on in the set for this wad. Either i'm getting good or this map should've been a map 3. I think the main reason of placement for this map was because of the cyberdemon at the end, and I suppose it balances out the levels, but this level was probably the easiest not only to speedrun, but also the easiest to complete in regular playthrough.
Without that being said, this is similar to map 2 in a way and sadly that doesn't give me much to point out about this map. Other than the fact the music is an odd choice (it surprisingly works in this case), the combat obviously wants you to be aggressive. I could imagine that casual style gameplay (hiding and shooting), would make this map a lot harder. However, since I am naturally an aggressive player (according to some sources), strategising the fights made it a ton easier for me.
I knew that with the horde of demons, if I were to slowly pace myself down the stairs without getting hit by plasma balls, I could take the majority of the demons before reaching the edge, meaning clean up wouldn't be much of a hastle. Shoutout to TheV1perK1ller for the strategies of this map, especially the first fight with the pain elementals. Killing the 6 enemies that teleport in makes it a lot easier to separate the pain elementals and overall manoeuvre around the room.
Another thing to mention as around attempt #50, I encountered a very rare glitch. I am not so sure as to how this was caused, however I have seen many other speedrunners and doom regulars get this glitch at least once in their gameplay. Guess it happens to me now (luckily it only took another 10 minutes to get back on track).
Overall, I like this map, Yugiboy85 in general is very good at making memorable encounters that make you girth your teeth in excitement. The cyberdemon at the end as well made for a very unexpected plot-twist at the very end, and it almost caused me a death on this run! This map is probably not as good as map 3, but it meets the standards of all the other maps and I can absolutely do nothing but appreciate it. Well done!
