Hello again.

This is the first mission which, despite being close to failure (not as close as that horrendous mission from Episode 6 though), I legitimately enjoyed during the playthrough.
That's something I rarely get to say during Chimerian Squadron as a whole...

Hi, HDD, I'm back from my walk.

I finished doing the previous update because Nicoletta asked me to go on a walk.
So... this walk was alright I guess. I saw grim armed Resistance soldiers everywhere, standing near alien corpses along with former ADVENT civilians being obviously shocked. Can understand them - even after one-and-a-half month, learning that the world of tomorrow you've been living in for twenty years and have been a patriot of is a lie destined to create a treatment for the Ethereals out of you.
Actually, not everyone had made it out in one piece. There were reports of self-killings because of this discovery. The biggest part of the reports were connected to biochemists and doctors which worked in gene therapy clinics...

On that topic - gene thepary clinics are gone. Shut down. Crushed over. The truth made people realize what just happened there during the Ethereal rule. No one except for the aliens and ADVENT loyalists were pleased about that.

But I won't get into details, it's quite clear which details are out here if you decide to listen to the Resistance Radio and XCOM transmissions.

During the walk with Nic, I've seen Resistance troopers still cleaning up the mess which was left after street fighting. The work was slow, yet steady. Most of monuments and community buildings were actually intact, which was really strange - they usually go down first.

We both decided to visit a museum, as the garden nearby was burnt from all that plasma fire three weeks ago.
Well, I saw the history which I didn't remember from my school books back in early 2000s. It was a really strange mishap of recent human achievements along with constant depictions of the Ethereal actions. It was really sickening yet dull to watch at what the aliens have accomplished - we all know what they did - yet watching at our own proud history was mesmerising.

Nic started to exchange the stories of herself being on XCOM missions. It was honestly much more engaging to hear from her own soul the mission details than to watch them from our archive feed. We got a really good talk thanks to the museum.

Then Nic asked me to tell her how I've got into XCOM. Well, there were Salmon Grain and George... dammit, I still miss him, god-forsaken MECs...
Finding them both was a miracle in series of disasters. The next question was that because I've got into XCOM quite well before the Liberation War, then I could have some details backing to what happened before I actually have joined the group.

And this is actually where I've started thinking seriously.

I did actually speak with several people during the Liberation War about what was in XCOM before my arrival.
Well, I know for sure that XCOM was up back in 2015, thanks to people like Jorge Ibanez, Opposing-Forc, Zoe Thomas and Killian Walsh (Raetezer II) discussing their roles during the war (in case of Zoe and Killian, their parents have served in 2015's XCOM). I certainly know that Bradford and the Commander were from this time, as father of Shen - whom I've never met sadly...
When I actually went into the legacy HQ during the time when we prepared for John's marriage, our recovery team have stuck upon some archives which clearly predate the HQ. Asking the Commander himself was fun, yet pointless - he himself joined XCOM only at the end of February 2015.
So this left Central as the only true source of intel. However, I couldn't get any kind of decent information as well - Bradford joined what was bound to become "the first and last line of defense" in 2012. This opened my theory can though.

XCOM actually did exist before 2015. Their base was already built before the arrival of the Commander. Bradford have served there for quite some time (and according to him, Shen Sr. and Tygan's predecessor as well).
In archives, there were some notes about something called "Bureau", as well.
It is a piece of information shrouded in mystery, dating to the times before I was even born. Yet an important one, confirming that XCOM was active during that time. What XCOM was doing during the sixties? Was there another, actually the original alien invasion which we were able to repel with great losses? Have there been survivors from those times and in which ways they've operated?

I've never been deep in secret government conspiracies, but if I'm to find the truth about XCOM's origins, I'm going to investigate what was left shrouded for a mystery.

Hopefully, the enemy unknown to me won't appear because of my sudden interest in the antique myths and stories...
