Look out, A Hat in Time, there's a new challenger to the indie 3D platformer throne and its name is ASCENT: Crash Landing! This Chillwave-inspired UE4 game puts you in control of Bluu, who just might be the least-appealing mascot I've ever seen in one of these games. He's like this horrible Chimpanzee-Beaver-Frog amalgamation with a face that says "kill me". Those motion-captured animations are going to be haunting my dreams for years to come. It's tail-whipping time as you go up against a bunch of insectoid cyborgs with the most fluid combat mechanics since American McGee's Alice.
All things considered, I probably could've skipped this title since there's like 3 spatialized sounds in the entire demo. But really, would you be able to say you lived a full life if you never experienced the sheer horror that is 2:37?
