NOTE: This is a historical video meant for archive purposes. Night Dive Studios broke 3D audio support when they re-released the game on GOG and Steam. The only way to get 3D audio is to either own a fully-patched CD version or own an old standalone download from GOG.

This is SiN Gold with OpenAL Soft's HRTF through DSOAL [IRC_1037 tables]. In an interesting twist from the standard fare, SiN Gold offers two different 3D positional audio modes: A3D and EAX. Aureal A3D mode is the default that the game is set to, and has full spatialization. You need to use the a3dapi.dll that comes with the game, or else it will not work. Some audio clips like footsteps sound weird in this mode, but are negligible. What isn't negligible, however, is the complete abscence of any music or voices. What is even the point of playing SiN Gold if not to hear the Oscar-worthy voice acting?

Honestly, Quake II engine games have some of the worst positional audio and audio mixing I've ever heard in a video game. SiN Gold's hardware-accelerated audio might fix the audio positioning, but it fails to fix the audio mixing unlike Yamagi Quake II's rewritten OpenAL driver.
