This is Wolfenstein: The New Order with HeSuVi 7.1 virtual surround [irc37.wav]. Whereas RAGE had very good positional audio with HeSuVi, its younger IDTech 5 brother sounds like absolute shit. Rear audio is damn near non-existent and the audio quality is somewhat tinny. The audio driver (XAudio2) is exactly the same, so I don't know what happened. If people try to argue with you that "devs don't need to waste time putting HRTF in video games" and "surround sound is good enough for 95% of gamers out there", show them this video and the Return to Castle Wolfenstein HRTF video side-by-side.

Man, why couldn't the entire game have been as good as this short U-Boat level? It's like they had a dozen different level designers each with their own philosophies (COD, stealth, run-and-gun, sewer etc.) make this whole game. Then the person who made this one good level got fired while the person who made the godawful Gibraltar bridge level got promoted to lead designer on The New Colossus and Youngblood.
