A while back on Twitter, I saw a lot of people expressing their anger and frustration over the fact Ubisoft was attempting to take away the games they had purchased with their own money...after several days of not playing. Me? I'm mixed with anger, confusion, and worry that Ubisoft would try and take my games. Naturally, these games just happened to be the Assassin's Creed series. If Ubisoft were to go through with this plan, I may as well get a start on making videos covering the entire game franchise. However, if Ubisoft doesn't go with this plan, someone outta inform me.
Putting the Ubisoft controversy aside, the Assassin's Creed series is really amazing. I was given Assassin's Creed III by a friend a long time ago, and I got really hooked into the story. Fast-forward to the present day, and here I am with almost all of the games sitting in my library. The first game we're going to play is Assassin's Creed, and the introduction scene gives us an idea of what we're dealing with; an assassin who hides among the crowd in white robes, and carries out murder with a hidden blade.
Moving onto the real story, we're introduced to Desmond Miles, a bartender who was kidnapped by an unknown organization, being watched by two people as they try to probe his mind. After the first attempt failed, they decided to give it another go, only this time providing Desmond a tutorial session and the first glimpse of the real main character, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. He, along with two other assassins attempt to search for some treasure before another group claims it; that being the Templars. But, because of Altaïr's recklessness and disregard for the creed, their mission fails.
Altaïr returns to Masyaf, where Al Mualim awaits him. Upon arriving, Altaïr expresses failure to Al Mualim and swears not to do so again. Al Mualim is rightfully angry by Altaïr's failure, even witnessing the consequences of Altaïr's actions. One of the assassins, Malik survives, but with a bloody arm. To make matters worse, Masyaf is under attack by the Templars, led by Robert de Sablé. Altaïr and many other assassins jump into action to repel the assault, succeeding by releasing wooden logs onto them, forcing Robert and the Templars to retreat. Despite successfully defending Masyaf and the fortress, Altaïr faces judgment by Al Mualim, as he begins to feel death's embrace.
The Animus comes to a halt, as the two people discuss whether or not Desmond should stay in the Animus for a little longer or not. Desmond listens to their conversation through a ventilation shaft, coming to the conclusion that Desmond should get a break from experiencing the Animus. With the first day coming to a close, the two people leave the room, locking Desmond in his own room, he awaits for the next day.
