After gathering insight about his targets, Altaïr rides for Jerusalem to meet with Mailk to gather information about his next target, Majd Addin. It seemed that while Saladin was away, the city was without a leader, and Addin had appointed himself to take on the role of leader, a usurper king. It's unsure whether or not the people approved of this move, but nevertheless, it is not good. Majd Addin uses fear and intimidation to get what he desires.
Mailk is surprised to see Altaïr's sudden growth, specifically asking him for his aid in learning more about his target. On his previous visit, Mailk was aggressive and saw Altaïr as a failure due to his arrogance. But his recent work has rather mellowed down Malik's aggressiveness, now maintaining a neutral perspective of the assassin. Either way, Altaïr explores Jerusalem and learns more about his target.
Having gathered information, Altaïr reveals that Majd Addin is holding a public execution for the citizens to see. But what he didn't know was that one of the people being executed would've been an assassin, something that Malik informed him of before he went to the execution site. Now properly armed with knowledge, Altaïr tracks down Addin, witnessing the execution of the accused. One by one, they fell. However, the moment Addin drew his blade to the assassin, Altaïr struck back.
After assassinating the usurper king, Majd Addin expressed disappointment, wanting what little power he had. He believed that the citizens were corrupted, reveling in the fact that he could seal their fates on a whim. Altaïr believed he killed these people for thinking differently, but Majd Addin says no. Majd Addin was one of the more sadistic members of the Templar Altaïr had encountered.
The Animus comes to a stop, with Vidic Warren now realizing that the Assassins are attempting to mount a rescue attempt to break Desmond free of his imprisonment. Lucy also reveals that, in spite of the Templar's goal of peace, their methods of acquiring peace were wrong.
