Get it? It's a reference to one of the best tracks in Final Fantasy 9. Yeah, you get it.

Our band of heroes, now properly joined together in a common cause, can now make their way up Eternian Central Command. Of course, first thing we have to learn about is the game's encounter rate setting. Tiz does it now. I don't know why they decided to make it diegetic, and I don't know how to feel about it. Whatever. Moving on.

At the top of the tower, the way into the Skyhold is blocked by none other than Janne, the Blazing Wolf, formerly of the Crystalguard and actually of the Glanz Empire. But it's four on one, so we can take him, easy. As soon as he goes down, though, he gets backup from... Nikolai!? Turns out he faked his death to try to get Yew to back down. Also, when he went to "take care" of the wounded Crystalguard soldiers, he actually meant it in the murder-y sense.

Now that they've shown their true colors, they fight in their proper jobs: Janne the Fencer, and Nikolai the Bishop. Time to commit a war crime and target the healer first. Nikolai's healing is percentage-based, so we're looking at him potentially healing Janne for 600 HP if we let him. Other than that, the only thing remotely scary is Janne switching up his stances.

By beating them, we claim their asterisks, but Yew's concern for his friend, an open and avowed traitor, gives Janne an opening to knock him down and beat a hasty retreat with Nikolai. They flee to the Skyhold, which takes off from the tower, heading off to who knows where.

But wait! Agnès did the thing I said last time and looked out the window! Based on her observations, Tiz figured out that they're heading towards Harena. We'll just have to head back to Gathelatio to get a ship to sail there. We'll just have to assume that the Empire's attack destroyed all the airships.

After all, the attack destroyed all the regular ships, and--Oh. But not to worry! Edea's sword teacher, Nobutsuna Kamiizumi, is here to save the day. Now, you might be asking yourself: Didn't he die in this world? And to that I say: Don't Worry About It. He's here, he's got a "mighty galleon," he's got a cat named Tsubaki, it's fine.

Alright, this boat of his sucks and is bad. It can only go through shallow waters, which will at least get us to Harena, I suppose. Along the way, they encounter a... girl. A young girl, fishing on her own. She takes care of cats, you see, so she's getting food for them. She even offers Tsubaki a treat! But Tsubaki goes berserk and attacks, critically injuring Kamiizumi. The girl runs away, and surely we will never see her again.

Kamiizumi needs medical treatment, and the nearest place is the city of Al-Khampis. This is where Janne and Yew went to school together, a city centered almost entirely around the students of its academy. We take Kamiizumi to the dormitory (they don't have a hospital???), and when we leave, we catch an incident between an obnoxious jerk student and the girl he's trying to bully. She runs off, and Yew recognizes her, so he wants to check in on her.

The girl's name is Rifa, and she's a "Ba'alologist." She's studying a monster, named after a beast of legend, that crashed into the planet about a year ago. This catches Magnolia's attention, and surely it's not because she is a self-proclaimed Ba'al Buster. Rifa knows where it is, but obviously she can't investigate it directly, so Magnolia wants us to go check it out.

There's also an idle minigame that's really not great for pure idling. You can get money out of it, but only eventually, so we'll leave it at that.

Job review time!

The Wizard is the new Black Mage. Their elemental spells naturally target the enemy party, but with BP, they can use Spellcraft to alter the effects. Spellcraft can later be used on other spells... eventually.

The Charioteer is all about physical attacks. They start each battle as a jack of all trades, but every time they attack, their proficiency goes up. They can even sacrifice armor slots to wield three or even four weapons at a time.

The Fencer is a sword user whose specialty is using stances to boost their attack or defense. They eventually learn attacks that allow them to switch from one stance to the other, and their Muscle Memory passive skill makes those boosts last for 10 turns even after they switch to another one.

The Bishop is the new flavor of White Mage. They serve the same role, obviously, but their healing magic is percentage-based. They have another gimmick: if they cast the same spell on the same target in a single turn, the effect is way stronger. Say it twice, for good measure!

Whew! These new jobs are pretty creative, in my humble opinion!
