Breath of Fire (GBA) Playthrough Part 11 - Storming Nabal
After spending nearly everything I have to properly equip everyone for the long challenges ahead, we are off to rescue the captive Gant residents of the Metal Smith clan. Shuffling between many stores in Prima and Gant combined took a while, but you'd be surprised how long lasting some of the stuff you purchase at this point can be.
It was at this point I remembered the FlameRP's item potential, only after having bought Nina an EvilRP.
Since Nabal Dungeon and Castle are mostly event-driven to a degree, why not record a whole traversal of both. The most dangerous enemies in Nabal Dungeon are the Sorcerers whose Blast spell shaves off 80HP.
BOSS: Toad [7:48]
Is a more pumped up version of Frog back in Camlon Castle. His physical attacks are reasonably strong, but nothing to be too much for cause of concern. Not sure if he gets any criticals, because then his threat level gains a bit.
Getting help from a former Dark Dragon is an interesting twist. He could be a defector given where he is located, the outskirts of nowhere essentially. Being a weapon collector, you must have the B. Rang to gain his trust and assistance to storm Nabal. The B. Rang is also an ideal replacement for Ryu's Foil (Rang). The presence of the mysterious stranger in the GrimFowl woods is a bit conflicting plot-wise and you'll understand why if you played this game before.
BOSS: GrimFowl [16:10]
The mutated ostrich isn't anymore threatening than Toad was, but its Burn Out spell is something to look out for, dealing 75HP damage. The challenge is not in the battle itself, BUT trying to line-up and then guide the flock out of the woods towards the castle.
Despite the GrimFowl giving the Dark Dragons a run for their life, there are still enemy encounters in the vicinity.
BOSS: 3 x SlimeX and One Big SlimeX [21:32]
Their combined physical attacks aren't enough to weigh down Ryu's forces that easily. Their defenses are very low, making it probably a better option for Ryu to attack with the B. Rang rather than resorting to Dragon Powers for once. There is no second wind phase, but instead they merge into one giant levitating SlimeX who also has low defense and doesn't hit very hard either.
Be sure to return back to Nabal Castle for the remaining treasures. This includes a very obscure Clog accessory on the edge of the ship port behind the castle. Not many guides (even official ones) know about this item's location; which leaves me further concluding that this game has yet to become FULLY transparent to the player and public beyond the original developers. They likely have long forgotten themselves too.
