Dark Souls 3 part 14 - Archdragon Peak
This is a nostalgic NG+ playthrough that I did in December 2020.
Beginning 0:54
Ancient Wyvern 3:45
Archdragon Peak part 2 8:11
Titanite Slab 17:50
Nameless King 19:14
Titanite Slab 25:34
The Ancient Wyvern is a hassle because there are a ton of enemies to get through before you can reach the top and drop down on it. I know that speedrunners have ways of getting a plunge attack right on its head without running up, but I never got good at doing that, so I always run the normal gauntlet. Fighting the giant snake people is difficult, so I try to avoid them when I can. This boss is one of the reasons that I skip over Archdragon Peak sometimes when I'm playing. I don't think it's very fun.
The Nameless King has a lot of delayed attacks made for roll catching, and he's another boss that I never got good at fighting. Fortunately there's another way. He wants to walk at you like a cool guy when you're out of melee range? I'll just shoot him then. Dorhys' Gnawing works well to bleed him, but if you're not a Faith character, you can one hand a crossbow whilst backing up and shoot him, repositioning yourself as needed. That's what I do with my Strength build character on the PS4. I was a little bit salty after the boss fight was over because I figured people would judge me for not fighting melee, but I honestly don't care, because I wasn't going to make a fool of myself while recording. I don't like this boss very much, if that wasn't totally obvious.
I used to farm here for Titanite Chunks back when the game was new, but since The Ringed City came out, Archdragon Peak is a better place to farm for Large Titanite Shards. Heh, back in 2016, I would wear the Mimic Head and the Covetous Gold Serpent Ring for hours trying to get Chunks because I didn't know about the Dragon Chasers Ashes at first.
