This is a no miss game on Normal difficulty.

I backed this game on Kickstarter, and as such, my name is in the credits. I love this game, and it exceeded my wildest expectations. Granzella blew me away with it.

Stage 1.0 - 2:02
Stage 2.0 - 5:17
Stage 3.0 - 9:06
Stage 4.0 - 13:12
Stage 5.0 - 17:05
Stage 6.0 - 21:23
Stage 7.0 - 26:20
Credits - 32:28
Ending A - 42:09

I settled on the Leo II for most of the stages, and it's more than a match for Normal difficulty. I used the Albatross in stage 4.0 because of its Force's homing capabilities when it's detached. It was necessary for that dark hallway near the end of the stage. I used the Arrowhead in stage 1.0 to show it some love - it's my favorite shmup ship of all time.

I got my copy of RTF2 on April 27th, 2021 because I was a Kickstarter backer. My copy of the game is Japanese. Granzella is supposed to give vouchers to the backers to unlock the Homage Course, which already had a couple of stages unlocked on the official release. I own this game on the PC, XBox One, and PS4.

I have a 50" television, so keeping track of all that's going on is difficult. It's much easier when I'm playing on my laptop.

I was planning on recording 6.1 and 7.1, but 6.1 is so difficult that that might be way down the road. I will do 6.2 and 7.2 for sure.

How do you get to the branching paths? Well, clearly the developers learned their lesson from R-Type Final accidentally sending you down different routes after you broke pegs on the bosses. In R-Type Final 2, there's a grey ship near the end of stage 5.0 that drops four gems after you destroy it. The top one takes you to 6.0. The second one from the top takes you to 6.1. The third one from the top takes you to 6.2. I'm not sure about the last gem. You can see that I chose the topmost gem to get to 6.0.

The music in this game is brilliant. I love the theme in stage 3.0. Stage 7.0 has probably my favorite track in the game, with its somber electronic theme while you fly through the graveyard. The credits have really good music too, a combination of two tracks according to the soundtrack that I got with the game. It's long too, to accomodate the length of the credits.

RTF2 in its R-Manual, specifically states in the Mission Brief, that the F-A ending of R-Type Final is what happened to the Bydo. Humanity finally defeated them. R-Type Final 2 is supposed to be war memoirs and military records from other pilots involved in Operation Last Dance. You're not humanity's ultimate hero in this game, but the final stage of all three paths are worthy endings for the pilots. Ending A is even happy!
