R-Type Final 2 Stage 5.0 with Ragnarok II

The Ragnarok II is a fantastic ship, not just because of its Wave Cannon, but because it has excellent weapons. The red laser is an arrow shaped beam that fires straight ahead. The blue weapon, in my opinion is one of the best in the game, fires five blue lasers that pop on impact dealing small AoE damage and covers a lot of area in front of the ship. The yellow laser is very situational, and really only good against weak enemies - it leaves markers in the air that fire streams of bullets (not very good in stage 5.0, so I avoided picking it up). Missiles are standard homing, which are good all around. The Cyclone Force doesn't shoot while detached, but can be recalled and sent away without returning to the ship, and has wide coverage. The Wave Cannon charges multiple loops, taking a while to get to max, but will vaporize most enemies when it does. Good luck finding the time to charge it though!!
Stage 5.0 is one of my favorites in the game. The music in this stage gets me hyped beyond belief!! The soundtrack has two tracks for stage 5.0, and even the track name for the upbeat part, Diving: Operation in Progress, gets me hyped up, because it's so cool. I love the underwater R-Type stages - I found from playing the DLC stages that Granzella did remake stage 2 from R-Type II.
Stage 5.0 is full of bouncing blowfish and spiky blowfish, so you need powerful weapons to take them down. A popular choice is the Strider series, as it has the Balmung Missile to clear out enemies, especially against the boss. I like using the Leo 2 and the Ragnarok II here. As far as Orobouros, the boss, having a powerful weapon to clear out its little fish is very important. My usual strategy is to charge up my Wave Cannon, blast it as soon as it appears on screen, and then tap dodge backwards, practically kissing Orobouros, while I keep shooting its face. Staying at speed 4 is important so you can get away from it, all the while dodging the rocks that float down.
