R-Type Final 2 Stage 7.2 with Charon R-Typer

The Charon is a beast of a ship, with three excellent weapons. The red laser is a continuous red beam, the blue laser is a double beam that somewhat homes in on the enemy and splits, and the yellow laser is like a windshield wiper that comes from the top and bottom of the Force and arcs downward towards the front and back up in a continuous, fluid motion. Popcorn enemies don't stand a chance against it. Even some larger Bydo don't stand a chance, as you can see how fast the Ebon Eye gets destroyed with it. The missile is a large, homing bomb that explodes on contact and damages enemies in the blast. The Force has a chain that can kill popcorn enemies and damage larger Bydo, but if you leave it attached too long, the chain changes color, and when too much time passes, it turns into a monster that you lose control of, until it turns back into the Force. Best not to hook on too long in that case. The Wave Cannon is a homing lightning blast that arcs all over the place, even behind the ship.
I played 7.2 with the Charon because I knew it would wipe out the horde of Bydo System Alphas that appear after the Demonic Lovers are destroyed. The real threat in this stage is not necessarily the enemies, but the crashed Space Corp ship exhaust. If you don't know where to be when the exhaust comes out then you're going to die. I've played this stage so much that I knew where to park. That part with the blue balls that turn into ships coming up - ordinarily I can get past with a Standard Force detached behind me, but the Charon's Yellow laser protected me all the way through it.
This stage was present in R-Type Command at the end of the human campaign, wherein you face the Ebon Eye. It doesn't end well for the Space Corp, and leads into the second half of the game. I don't like this stage quite as much as the symbolic stage F-A from R-Type Final, but it is still a fitting final stage. It also has an excellent musical theme.
