Devastation with 3D spatial sound 🎧 (OpenAL Soft HRTF audio)

Here's Devastation, a game so obscure that it was featured in MarphitimusBlackimus' Obscure First-Person Shooters series 8 years ago. Even though this is using the same OpenAL Soft HRTF tables as the other UE2 games I've recorded, the quality of the binaural audio is terrible. I would say that Digitalo got lazy and didn't bother programming in 3D positional sound, but AFAIK Unreal Engine 2 handles that by default (hence Road to Fiddler's Green having great sound for garbage shovelware). The utter lack of any kind of ambient sounds doesn't help.
This has to be one of the worst FPS games I've ever played. Setting aside the completely incomprehensible dystopian storyline, the gameplay is abysmal in every way. The campaign is basically a series of Base Assault botmatches complete with in-story respawning (no joke). If you're the kind of person that can have fun with TF2 bots for hours, this might sound appealing to you at first. However, the A.I. for both your teammates and your enemies are without a doubt some of the worst I have ever encountered. You can be standing in front of an enemy with a clear line of sight, yet they'll just stand still and let you shoot them. The second an enemy spawns with a laser rifle, though, they just go aimbot on you and your entire team. Oh, did I mention the fact that you're forced to play at the too-low 90FOV because both your gun and the HUD will disappear on anything higher?
