204Super Mario Bros 2 and Doki Doki Panic are 2 of my favorite games of all time, and they are beautiful, fun, and just a joy to play. Since the originals came out, though, we're still looking for new tips and tricks, and I am not just talking about speedrunners. ItzGruz posted a video showing how you can actually earn infinite spins on the slot machine. Let's take a look at this infinite lives trick in Super Mario Bros 2.

The earliest level you can take advantage of this is level 1-3. You'll want to make sure to earn as many lives as you can before this as you'll be burning through a few lives to earn lives later. Normally, when you get a potion and go into Subcom, you can only do so twice in a level. Well, grab the potion and jump over to where there's a ton of vegetables over the logs and everything. Drop the potion, pick up the coins, and jump into the waterfall to kill your character. Then you get back to the beginning of the levels and do it again. And again. And again.
Now, this does cost you lives, but you can ration how many you sacrifice to be able to take advantage of this trick and pay lives to try to earn lives too. It's not as infinite as in Super Mario Bros 1 and Super Mario Bros 3, but there's a definite way to go ahead and take advantage of the game. There are other levels that you can do this as well, as you progress through the game. The slot machine game is more a game of risk than what you can do in SMB1 and SMB3, but you can add to your lives in the game. Plus, you can do this in Doki Doki Panic as well, it also works on the original Famicom Disk System version of Doki Doki Panic, the NES Version of Super Mario Bros 2, Super Mario Bros All-Stars on the SNES, and the Switch Online Version of Super Mario Bros 2 on the Switch online service.
