Are there some video games that, no matter what, just do not click with you? As a genre, I don't care for RPGs so none of those click with me, but one of the original black box NES games is one that I've just never enjoyed. That game is Kid Icarus on the original NES, which I do not care about. I don't know if it is because of the vertical versus horizontal scrolling, the fact that I don't care about ancient mythology, or simply the fact that I'm not very good at it. Well, that last one is something I don't have to worry about any more as I just discovered a way to unlock total invincibility in Kid Icarus, and now I might have a fighting chance to not suck at it.

It is important to note that this passcode only works on the original NES version of Kid Icarus. The NES Online, Wii eShop, Wii U eShop, and 3DS eShop versions have been patched and do not work with this cheat code. Also, the Famicom Disk System Version of Kid Icarus doesn't have a way to enter a passcode, therefore, it also does not work with this hack.

The Code:
Enter the following passcode:

ICARUS FIGHTS
MADUSA ANGELS

Upon entering this passcode, Pit becomes completely immune to all enemy attacks and environmental hazards. This means you can run through enemies, take hits from projectiles, and fall into pits without taking any damage whatsoever. This invincibility lasts for the entire duration of the game session started with this passcode. It's a great way to explore the level without the constant threat of death, or to simply breeze through a challenging section.

Also, instead of beginning at the very first level (1-1), the game will immediately transport you to the start of Stage 2-4. Stage 2-4 is the first fortress level in the game. Fortresses are distinct from the regular scrolling stages, featuring a maze-like structure with interconnected, non-scrolling rooms. You'll need to navigate these labyrinths to find and defeat the boss guarding the Sacred Treasure of the Overworld.

There's no such thing as a free lunch, so there are some interesting side effects when you decide to cheat. Interestingly, when you start on Stage 2-4 using this passcode, Pit will already possess the Flame Arrows (Sacred Treasure from the first fortress, Stage 1-4) and the Protective Crystals (Sacred Treasure from the second fortress, Stage 2-4). However, you will still need to acquire the Holy Bow from the third fortress (Stage 3-4) later in the game to access the final stage.

While you are invincible, the game's item display might show that you have an incredibly large number of potions (often displayed as an "8" that seems to represent infinity). However, you don't actually use potions since you can't take damage. This is more of a visual quirk of the passcode.
