Nintendo Screws Up Their OWN Switch 2 PreOrder Process

I don't know about you but to me it seems like the Nintendo Switch 2 PreOrder Process has both gone super smooth and also been something that someone somewhere screws up. Take the initial pre-order that happened a few weeks ago at midnight. Target's website completely pooped the bed that night and couldn't process orders properly. Best Buy didn't open up their pre-orders for 30-60 minutes after the pre-order window opened, and GameStop didn't start taking orders until the following morning. Walmart seemed to have their act together out of all stores, as that's where I got my pre-order from. Fast-forward to May 8th, 2025, and Nintendo finally opened up pre-orders on their website. And while it looked fine to start with, things quickly went sideways, and even Nintendo wasn't immune to problems.

To be able to preorder from Nintendo at all you needed to have a MyNintendo account in good standing, have played so many hours on the Original Switch, and have a Switch Online account. I have all of those covered. I registered for the system without a bundle, and at 4:30 PM Central time, I got my email that I could preorder my system. Now, I have my Walmart Preorder and a backup preorder at our local Gamestop. I don't need to get a 3rd system. But what I did want was a Gamecube controller for the Switch Online. I clicked the link in the email, added the controller to my cart, and held off so I could record the process for a YouTube Short. Then it went bad.

When I removed the Gamecube controller from my cart to show the process. When I tried to get in to my account again it told me I had to register to be able to preorder again! Its as if I had never registered at all! I tried calling Nintendo and doing the online chat, I also tried to use Edge Browser instead of Chrome. Nothing worked. Until I tried in Incognito mode on Chrome, then I was able to see my preorder options again. Ok, add the controller to cart, select shipping, choose my credit card and....

You Must Have a Switch 2 System On This Order To Order This Item.

UGH!!!

Well, for now I am just going to have to wait a few days to be able to try to order the GameCube controller. Ordering this has been a nightmare. What has your experience been like? Share your thoughts in the comments.
