Let's Help You Be Sure You Succeed In Pre-Ordering A Nintendo Switch 2
It is almost here—time to put in your pre-orders online for the Nintendo Switch 2. With many different options out there as far as where and how to pre-order your system, I wanted to put together some tips and tricks to help you ensure that you will be able to get your hands on one on launch day. So let's roll up our sleeves, get to our computers, and Let's Help You Be Sure You Succeed In Pre-Ordering A Nintendo Switch 2
Midnight is Not Necessarily Midnight
Out of all the emails that I have received, from GameStop, Best Buy, Target, and even Walmart, they mostly indicate that pre-orders will start at midnight. The fine print that some people may not catch right away is that the time is midnight EASTERN. So if you are in a different part of the country, it may be at an earlier time. For example,e I am in the central time zone, which means pre-orders will open at 11:00. Now, GameStop has said that they will start pre-orders online at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time on the 24th, so that is something to keep in mind too.
Be Ready
If you already know what website you want to order from, make sure that you have all of your information locked and ready to go. Be logged into the website, and have your address information correct for both billing and shipping purposes. Have your credit card information correct. Get everything out of the way as soon as possible.
Down Payment
Be aware that just about every site that will be doing pre-orders will require payment in full. That means you will have to pay for the system, tax, and if applicable, any shipping. The exception to this is if you order in-store at GameStop, which we will discuss in a moment
Order limits
To reduce the impact of scalpers, Nintendo has told every retailer that they are to limit pre-orders to one per customer. That means even for legitimate purchasers you will have to buy one per customer. So if you were hoping to get one and your spouse was hoping to get one, or you're hoping to get one for two different kids, you will have to try to do so using two different logins, two different counts, two different transactions.
What about GameStop?
GameStop is doing their pre-orders differently as their online pre-orders will start at 11:00 a.m. Eastern time on the morning of the 24th. Most stores are opening early, and they are also limiting pre-orders to one per customer. Unlike an online order, I was informed that you can put $50 down to reserve your unit and pay for the rest later.
So there we go, folks, and it's almost that time to order your Nintendo Switch 2. What retailer do you plan on using? You plan on even pre-ordering one? Share your success or failure stories in the comments.
