Well, I guess progress wasn't always going to be straightforward in The Granstream Saga... and since I was steadily approaching the end, it only made sense that I'd finally encounter the dreaded backtracking fetch quest sooner or later. I guess I just wasn't expecting these trips down memory lane to take up the entire stream.

So, first off, I got to explore the Vangel in greater detail. Which was kind of annoying, if I'm gonna be honest. Having to navigate elevators in JRPG-style dungeons is generally never fun for me, especially when you need keycards to make progress. The fact that those damned blobs from the previous dungeon somehow managed to return didn't help my mood. The fact that the sorceror enemies got even better at blocking only made matters worse, to be honest.

From there, I finally made it to the final continent... which left me with a loopy supporting cast and a fetch quest that would send me to all four continents. In the meantime, I also decided to finally take a look at the merchant Dari had apparently told me about previously (at least according to him) and get my hands on awesome bonus equipment. Of course, the fact that my rewards for beating each of the mini-dungeons was apparently the best equipment you could get under normal means, just sort of made those bonuses feel a little underwhelming. Oh well, at least I got a few good spells out of it.

I'm not sure if I'm on track to beat the game in the next session. From what Dari's told me, there's still one actual dungeon and a final boss to contend with. Considering the fact that my progress per session has usually consisted of completing a dungeon and all of the extra padding surrounding it, odds seem pretty good that I'll finish the game next time. The only real issue is that usually when I'm confident about finishing a game "next time", some unforeseen issue comes to bite me in the ass. So, I'm trying to avoid sounding confident right now... just to improve my chances.
