A lot of this description will be a repeat of the last one, since this is ultimately my summary of the first map.
Overboard is a short wad released by Cyriak "Mouldy" Harris that i had recently come across. Seeing as this is the same author as Going Down (which i absolutely loved and will eventually showcase on this channel) I decided that it would be a cool side project to speedrun the casual levels. Maybe in the future when I am more skilled, I will try and attempt the plus levels!
The level is very easy to speedrun as no matter how many successful attempts I did, I would always complete it sub 1:50. I don't know how I got 1:41, however I am disappointed that I checked for the chaingunner in the hitscanner section of the map. If I didn't do that, it would've been a certain map record.
The start is very simple and the monsters aren't too threatening. The only problem is that a lot of the hit scanners can scatter around the map, meaning it eventually becomes a bear hunt when you're on the last few kills. However there is now a better method of dealing with that. Don't kill the monsters inside the building except 1 shotgunner and 1 chaingunner beforehand, since you will need the weapons and ammo for the rest of the level. You can come back and kill the rest of the monsters no problem, which will save you a couple seconds.
To put it into perspective, this level is a great introduction to the wad, as many of it's levels are very short and the monsters aren't too threatening (with the exception of the crusher Cyberdemon). I currently really like the direction this wad is going and I hope to get more levels like these. Amazing stuff Mouldy!
