https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/twzone Imagine.. if you will, a dimension, one beyond the wildest dreams and doomer minds, beyond.. imaginations. Am I making sense? Probably not but I couldn't help myself. This is the 6th wad I've personally chosen for Season #13 and it was found, quite by accident one day looking up wads under the names of many famous mappers and by looking up the long long career of Paul Corfiatis, I knew I had to cover his first ever megawad, because we all have to start somewhere right?

The Twilight Zone is a 32 map megawad released on December 2nd 1998, I'm using the original uncut, raw and pure release vs the 2003 polished and revamped edition, and I do take into consideration that not only was Corfiatis a teen when this megawad was made but it was also their first work overall, There is no story to this megawad, rather its 32 maps of hellspawn slaughtering and also mystifying puzzle solving.

Yes, the maps do seem a little flat and the usage of Wooden skull switches as doors is by far the strangest concept of a door yet I've seen, There's some odd placement and yes, there are bare rooms but I can look past that as Paul later began to hone his craft in later work, the maps don't flow but each one usually leaves visual clues indicating where you are supposed to go next, Ammo and health is modest. What may truly effect your judgement on this megawad is its very easy, The Twilight Zone ranks as among the easiest wads I've played yet, even on Hurt me plenty things never really heat up until the last 4 maps.

Again, everyone starts somewhere and I'd say that it was the stepping stone that Paul needed to start their doom mapping and wad making journey, I one day plan to cover The Twilight Zone's sequel as well, This megawad is also another of my most played wads as there's something about it that I can't really put into words but it feels fresh even for a 1998 wad.
