https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/megawads/intercep It's been 10 years since 2013.. Time sure does fly when you are having fun huh? GTA V which is now on THREE systems was released that year and just having gotten use to my new house, having moved the year before it was.. a somber time for me so I stuck to Doom to get through the hard times that happened that year, I knew well of this megawad but its taken me until now to actually finish it and cover an episode on it.

Interception began life as two maps by Matthew D. for TNT 2 Devilution but they were rejected, what came of that was a megawad of 32 maps with help from others including Valkiriforce, FranckFRAG, General Rainbow Bacon, Purist and so forth, and was released on January 16th 2013, later it was honored as a runner up at that year's cacoawards.

The thing that sticks with me about Interception? It's mapping which lends itself between nature settings, brown brick fortresses, techbases and bloody steel hell maps, all of them feel like they were crafted to flow from one to the next, the maps neither too small nor too big and well placed ammo and health. Interception is also helped with its moody soundtrack composed by Stewboy and XenoNemisis which both give each map a dreary feeling.

Difficulty will throw off some players as Interception at first starts with Scythe like levels while rising to the kind of ambushes you'd see in Scythe II in the middle part, Interception pushes to a new level entirely in it's final episode with it heavily relying on fake walls, linedef traps and *intense* trap rooms that lock you inside, I did have some desk slams when I died over and over to the last boss but Interception is among my most played wads, It keeps speaking to me, honestly, as a one of kind megawad that has everything I expect in a megawad.
