Doom Wads/Mods Rise Of The Revisits #24:Killing Adventure
0https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/killadve Everyone starts somewhere when they are beginning to make wads, and yet sometimes their efforts don't add up to much, I have tackled wads by Doomguy 2000, and others who don't put much effort into their wads, and in Season 4 I went over a wad that was given a mockaward but I found it to be rather dumb and unappealing. Ruba's Killing Adventure which was released on September 5th 2009.
This 32 map megawad has so much to its name that I'm not sure the video and the description here can explain but what first hits in Killing Adventure.. Is the music which is some of the most grating, unpleasant and cheery tunes ever put into a megawad, mapping is quite dire with some maps looking rough like 1994 wads and others being a copy-paste from Doom II stock maps, which the latter to me is both strange and unnecessary.
Ammo placement is alright but this megawad's icing on the cake has to be the intermission screens and the "storyline" where Ruba writes out some pretty disturbing first-person narrative ramblings that make no sense related to the plot of Killing Adventure, and the plot is loosely told as an "adventure" going to many colorful worlds which is a poor statement if there ever was just one about this megawad, and the hand drawn graphics that appear in the secret maps, and the title screen? I wanted to throw up, It was pretty unpleasant.
[[Killing Adventure is a rare case, When I started using GZDoom for Season 4 of this series I wanted to go over this wad to see if it really was worthy of a mockaward for the 2009 Cacoawards, but now I think it was a mistake, as I didn't find anything funny at all about Killing Adventure.
As I did explain some jokewads fall flat, But Killing Adventure is not even in the same league as jokewads, and it's among the few wads to completely ruin my interest in Doom for a time, It's true, there's only been 6 so far and this was the first one. I was so disgusted by it first time I went to heretic for a while. Going over this wad a 2nd time to revisit it was a waste for me, but my point was to show to people how bad it is. People, Don't download this megawad or anything by Ruba as I've seen his doom wiki page is full on inconsistant and poorly made wads]]
