https://www.doomworld.com/idgames/levels/doom2/Ports/megawads/cchest2 There's a lot that I like about Community Projects for Doom, The overall combination of many mappers and musicians to create something for all to enjoy, and among the first to be a huge focus was the Community Chest series which started in 2003. It had a rocky start with Community Chest with its sequel Community Chest II being one of the winners of the first ever Cacoawards in 2004, That should tell you how important it is.

Released on December 6th 2004, Community Chest II is a 32 map megawad with many credits to its name including Sarge Baldy, Use3D, Kaiser, Stephen Clark and Andy Leaver with most of the soundtrack unchanged except for some tracks from Rise of the Triad, Wild Arms, and a original track by B.P.R.D.

The elephant of the room for Community Chest with its bad parts to cover first is that some maps look awful, Gene Bird's maps alone are some of the most lifeless and yawn inducing I've seen from the early 2000's, while others by Iori, Cyb, and Chopkinsca are ruined by terrible ammo placement and over detailing rooms and hiding buttons that I can't see without pinpoint looking after killing all monsters.

On the other hand, B.P.R.D. made one of the most famous maps ever, The Mucus Flow for this megawad and the later episodes showcase new talent who would later appear in the credits of projects like Back to Saturn X. Community Chest's ammo is well placed and it never felt like I was struggling to get through maps even on Ultra Violence, though I underestimated (yet again) how some of these maps have vicious traps.

[[Confession Time, I had 10 wads I was going through to decide on as the pilot episode for this series in Season 1 of Doom Wads/Mods. They were:Community Chest II, ZDaemon City, You Dig, Harmony, The Revenant Problem, The Great Bicycle Mystery 2, Plutonia 2, Back to Saturn X Episode 1, Sunlust, and Scythe and of them, I was going to do Community Chest II as the pilot but Zdaemon City caught my eye for being a open world game within a doom wad but I didn't expect it to glitch on me.

Community Chest II for me, is the gold standard of community projects even if there are rough and bad maps within it, and with this megawad it feels fresh even after 18 years, Not only that but the 4 Community Chest wads all seem to be a huge influence on future projects and, should be rightfully so as a measuring stick]]
