One of the best parts of an Elden Ring playthrough is the moment when you find the weapon that feels like it’s ‘the one’ – if you know what I mean. The weapon that feels like it lets your build come into its own and you can finally start living the vision you had for your character when you started a new game.

For example, I’m putting together a pure strength build right now and I tried out a few different early strength weapons and wasn’t in love with any of them, until I got my hands on the Greatsword, gave it one swing and it was as though the thing had chosen me. It was just perfect. And when I felt that it's finally time to stop putting my build together and get on with the main quest.

It’s a great moment that’s almost like an early story arc in a shonen anime, where a weapon of great power calls out to the protagonist. And the true story begins when the protagonist heeds the call, acquires the weapon, and becomes a hero setting out on some great journey. That's how I felt when I finally got my hands on that Greatsword and completed my new strength build.
