Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

Daniel & his crew make it back to their castle's meeting hall and, in typical meeting hall fashion, Daniel is surprised to see Jovian standing before him along with Bast & Carson.

As it turns out, Jovian was in on this plan to get Daniel out as well. Even with his loyalty to Kirgard, he won't let his friend rot in a state prison. Bast won't even go back to Matrech cause they've gone too far in his eyes.

As for Carson? He's staying put until Ryan calls him back, no questions asked.

Know who wants someone back though? The Matrech Guard cause Ayara comes rushing in to say they're on their way over to take back Daniel by force if they have to.

What follows next is a chance to get your war parties organized and make any changes you need to make. When you're ready, you can talk to Angel to save your game, a thing you oughta do before talking to Jovian to get this mission to drive back Matrech started.

Leading the charge to the castle is none other than Erin & Jasper along with some of the usual generic rabble. Clearly they think Daniel's just going back to his comfort zone the moment he feels he's in danger.

That being said, this is a rather tough war battle for two reasons. First, Jovian & a generic infantry unit join this battle, but are controlled by the AI. While they aren't a country mile ahead of Daniel's army, Jovian is a cavalier and will put some major distance between himself and Daniel's army, meaning he's got a very strong chance of being taken out.

Second, getting an A rank. If you have every commander recruited to this point, including all the optional ones like Outsider, Griever, and Paris, you can afford to have one unit go down if you want that A rank.

Thankfully, Erin's army does have one weakness...only a couple ranged options in a pair of scouts and her only three movement range units are the cavalier trio in front of her, Jasper being one of those three. With Bast & Griever as cavaliers, they can position themselves in such a way to lure in the cavaliers.

Despite getting off to a slightly rough start with Bast basically being taken out of the rest of the fight and Griever taking a big hit herself, they did exactly what I needed them to do, allowing them to retreat into the backlines while the rest of the crew takes out one cav, reduces Jasper to a non entity, and lets a couple others lure out a couple extra enemy forces on the east side.

As for Jovian, he indeed is reckless, but he's the one that wiped out a weakened cav and greatly injured one of the enemy scouts...who then pulls a major stupid when the enemy's next turn rolls around.

On that enemy turn, Jovian takes some heavy damage, enough that the weakened scout would have been able to finish him off. Instead, he decides Ljusalf is a better target by going right up into his face and attacking him.

As if to mock the stupid scout, Jovian with 48 men left goes up to the scout and taps him. Only does about 37 men's worth of damage, but that's enough for the idiot scout's counter to leave Jovian with exactly 1 man remaining.

Still, there's a dangerous force on the field and her name is Erin. She's got 7/7 stats and a high men counter so she can easily one shot or damn near one shot a decent chunk of my army. Griever had to fall to her because Jovian would have gone down to a nearby weakened infantry unit in front of Erin anyways. Still, she did another big task for me in luring Erin in.

After a one man army in Jovian takes down the infantry with 30 men left, Erin gets blasted back to Matrech again with all my ranged units able to attack her before Daniel goes in for the finishing blow.

The A rank reward for this battle is a unique armor, the Matrech Plate. Has 16 pdf for 10 weight and boosts the wearer's strength by 4. Quite nice, but don't worry about if you can't hit the A rank reward since the B rank reward is equally nice, a Diamond Dust.

After forcing Matrech's retreat, all seems dire. The State Army issues a decree that anyone that returns to Matrech in a week will be forgiven, but everyone else that doesn't will be branded a traitor. Daniel's been forced into a corner, almost out of running the army entirely, but Jovian suggests they put their minds together and join up as allies once again. If Matrech wants Daniel ousted, what's there to lose really?

Next time, we see what Daniel does to try keeping most of his army at his side.
