Exit Fate is a role playing game made in RPGMaker by SCF. With 75 characters to recruit, a mixture of typical turn based combat and war battles, and an engaging story, the result is a very Suikoden-esque game.

The latest version of the game can always be found here:

Daniel's in jail, forced to stand trial for treason against the State Union. He's not going to have to fight the charges alone as he's approached by someone named Beau, a lawyer hired by Angel to serve as Daniel's defense during the trial. Takes a bit of convincing, but Daniel agrees to take him on for his case and explains everything about what caused him to make the decisions he did.

After Beau leaves to go do some additional investigating and build a case, Daniel nods off and has a dream involving him, Angel, and Jovian as kids...and a brief appearance by some shadowy figure that seemingly disappears from the dream. Daniel's evil side likely begins talking to him here with claims of "she deceived you" and "Would I lie to you?".

Daniel suddenly gets woken up, but not before his evil side warns him to "avoid her at all costs". Turns out his trial just got a massive push forward which is the first sign something's amiss.

At the trial, Beau mentions that bringing forward the hastened trial date is not illegal, potentially canceling out the first sign something's amiss...which then instantly gets tossed back in with a bonus when Daniel notices Vosch in attendance.

Not only that, in the very back of the courtroom is Angel, Ayara, and Shiro. Angel says everything's ready, signaling that they might already know what the end result of this trial is. Shiro's even ready to turn against Zelmony, saying he still has a debt to pay to Daniel for saving his life and that Bast is even on board with this plan.

What plan? Well, the first shoe comes out when the judge gives his ruling after one of the quickest trials in history. The judge says the evidence for Daniel's betrayal of the State Union is inconclusive and arguments to that end don't sufficiently explains his choices. As such, Daniel is to be cleared on all charges of conspiring to overthrow the State Union.

So what's the catch? The second shoe comes down with a mighty force when Vosch little quip after the ruling brings forth brings the rest of the ruling...Daniel disregarded a direct order and withheld critical information. Considering it's a time of war and all that....Daniel just gets charged fully for treason anyways. Capital!

As if on cue, Angel, Ayara, and Shiro come to Daniel's aid, beat up a few soldiers attempting to take him away, and the team of four book it out of the courtroom where they find Col waiting with everyone's weapons primed and ready to make a courtroom escape in typical style.

There's no random battles in the courthouse, just a good 4+ fixed groups of Matrech Soldiers, sometimes with a Corporal tossed into the mix. Nothing super strong, but there's the potential issue that you might have some low level people with low leveled weapons in tow. Luckily for me Angel & Shiro have been in the frontline for the previous dungeon with very high leveled weapons so they can handle things just fine here. Daniel, while not quite physically adept, is at least at an acceptable level to sit on the frontlines.

From where you gain control, head south, then to the east to take down a group of soldiers. There's a Fireball spell in a chest beyond them. Head west once you grab the chest until you exit the hallway right into another group of soldiers.

After they go down, head west past the stairs down and keep heading around the outside edge of the room until you reach a chest with a Star Gown (6 pdf, 5 mdf, 4 wgt). Head back to the stairs, go down them, then it's a straight shot east to a door leading to a long hallway with a couple more soldiers packs.

After blowing through the last pack, the team runs headlong into a huge clump of soldiers. Attempting to retreat, they find more soldiers blocking their way backwards. Too bad they didn't account for the team jumping out a window to escape, heh.

One lonely soldier attempt to get his buddies to close the city gates as the crew rushes to the exit. It would have likely worked were it not for some ninja shenanigans courtesy of Rorschach messing with said plans as the team escapes Matrech and hoofs it double time back to their castle.

More next time!
