Apparantly, Aerith can use the Scimitar weapon in this mod, which is pretty cool, giving +25 to both Vit and Magic Power, is fire-elemental, has 6 mat slots and offers triple growth. A pretty nice weapon overall. Not sure if intentional or not since Cid still gets to use it too (seems to be more for Aerith, though), but I like it regardless. There's something about a cute flowergirl wielding a huge naginata-like weapon like the Scimitar that just sits right with me. She looks cool with it, IMO.
Anyway, as for the Nyx, this guy has a pretty cool design, kinda like a cross between FF5 Atomos and a Malboro and it replaces the Schizo boss in Gaea's Cliff. It's not too bad to deal with overall; it has 30k HP but is weak to both fire and water. Nyx's attacks aren't anything to write home about; he has a pretty strong attack in Head Acheron, which seems to go through Barrier (at least I didn't see the animation pop up), and some mildly annoying status attacks like Styx & Stones (damage + confusion) and Sour Breath (damage + poison), but other than that, this boss isn't really all that dangerous. Every few turns, Nyx will do a combo of Lethe Spill, which damages both itself and Aerith and inflicts sleep , and Coctyus Dance, which seems to remove all status effects. Because of the latter, and the fact that Nyx's attacks aren't all that threatening to begin with, keeping barriers up isn't really worth the time. So I opt for Fire2 castings instead, which do nearly 2k damage. We do want to prevent sleep here so I equipped Added Effect + Seal for sleep protection, so we can deal more damage by equipping Earring instead. Not a bad fight.
