So last time we journeyed to Troia, a kingdom ruled by a group of eight women clerics. They largely avoided falling back on tired stereotypes, although there was one comment about their military being weak. We were too late for the Crystal, as it was just nabbed by a Dark Elf hiding in a cave nearby. We also ran into Edward, frail and bedridden after the attack by Leviathan a few chapters back. When he heard our opponent was an elf, he gives us the Twin Harp, saying it's the only way he can help this time.
We got to see some Chocobos for the first time too! I love how the white ones restore your MP, but this time we needed a Black Chocobo that can fly and land in a forest. The Dark Elf is weak against metal weapons, so he setup a magnetic field in the cavern, making metal weapons useless. I used to hate this dungeon as a kid, but it really wasn't too bad. The Dark Elf was a piece of cake, although my heart skipped a beat when he did Fira, Thundara and Blizzara simultaneously, killing my whole party. After grabbing some new treasures in Troia castle, we're ready to roll.
CHAPTER 9 - THE TOWER OF ZOT
Make sure you heal if needed and restock items in town before getting back on the airship. Once you do, it'll automatically trigger the next event and you'll be taken to the Tower of Zot. Golbez is waiting at the top with Rosa, ready to exchange her for the castle. Tellah is mostly useless here, surprisingly since he's usually OP, except for those slime creatures that can only be killed with magic. For the most part, I have him conserve MP and act as the healer in the two upcoming boss battles. Unlike the last couple dungeons, this one has some pretty good treasures, including weapons and armor for almost everybody.
This place is a little more challenging than anything we've seen so far, but it's really not that bad. You also have Cecil as a healer when you're not in battle. You should be able to make it to the save point without too much trouble, so you can rest up. Just beyond the save point, you'll face the first boss battle, the Magus Sisters: Mindy, Sandy and Cindy. The Magus Sisters' special move, Delta Attack, involves casting Reflect on one of them and then bouncing magic off them to one of you. You'll want to concentrate on the middle one first, Cindy, as she is the one they cast Reflect on. She also heals the other two sisters, so it just makes sense. It's a real basic boss fight: attack with Cecil, Cid and Yang while Tellah heals as needed.
Take a moment to heal before heading in the next room. Maybe take a moment to appreciate Tellah and how cool he is. Why? Oh no reason, you'll just have to watch it for yourself!
