Forza Horizon 4 by Playground Games/Microsoft, 2018.

Unlike Forza Motorsport 7, Forza Horizon 4 doesn't contain any modern F1 cars, but it does have pre-war cars, that are fun to compare to their similar appearance in old games like Spirit Of Speed 1937!

Of course, being Forza Horizon, everything is kicked up to the max, so the scenery (here in the UK) isn't quite like the racing tracks quoted below (apart from Silverstone, at a push!).

Handling is both arcade but also lightly simulation, in that you have to catch slides, which are plentiful in these old cars with skinny tyres! The designers also added on headlights and tail lights so these cars can be driven in the dark, which can look a bit odd on occasion.

I know you can unlock racing driver suits (eventually) but here I'm wearing some gaudy outfit to stand out a bit :-D

The framerate on the capture is a bit all-over-the-place with a few slowdowns. I tried varies settings in both Nvidia ShadowPlay and OBS but neither were perfectly smooth all-the-time, despite it being smooth in-game.

1. Race Start (Monza): 0:00 A bunch of Bugatti cars jostling for position here. The computer controlled "Drivatars" can be a bit vicious on occasion, but not here!

2. Spray Effects (Silverstone): 0:40 Rain and spray is nicely represented, with handling made a fair bit trickier. Here it's not quite so heavy rain though.

3. Tunnel & View (Monaco): 1:03 Into Edinburgh in a pre-war Mercedes. It's not quite Monaco but it's nicely detailed!

4. Wet Track (Spa-Francorchamps): 1:29 A sweeping section near the lake, which shows how treacherous skinny tyres in the rain can be; I nearly lost it!

5. Pitstop (Interlagos): 1:51 There's no pits, and not even a fuel/gas station on the map! So I dipped into the Horizon Festival Site briefly. Amusingly my headlights decided to turn on as I left!

6. Huge Crash (Montreal): 2:11 Crash damage is somewhat basic, which is to be expected in an arcade racer with a huge bunch of licensed content. You can switch on actual damage too, which hurts your speed and handling.
