Achieved on April 12nd, 2016
PS1 disk played on a PS2 using Fast Disk Speed
NTSC Version
Final SDA Time: Around 1:58:57.84
Final RTA Time: Around 1:59:01.88

This run was timed SDA timing. That means timing begins when gameplay starts which is at the first frame of the circle transition. RTA timing begins when I press the "Start" option in the main menu. For both SDA and RTA timing, timing ends when Rez hits the third TV button in his second phrase, ending gameplay.

Nice to sub 2 at long last. This run has been good overall but I still have a lot of time to save. This category can go down to a sub 1:55 with strict routing and playing more risky in general. But I'm done with this category until someone beats this run. This category is full of precise skips and tricks that kept on killing my runs but I'm satisfied with this end result. Splits are in the following link. I split late too.

Here is a website that tells most of the tricks through this run.

I'm working on a mini Gex 3 100% guide. Here are my thoughts for each level.

Out of Toon: It isn't that bad for farming the 1 frame TV cancel trick since it is at the beginning of the run. That TV cancel tricks saves about 40 seconds.

Smellraiser: Really bad execution on the reward remote. Not to mention that I lost the firefly early so I have to do a backup route, nearly a reset.

Frankensteinfeld: Good gameplay overall.

Fine Tooning: Once again, I lost my firefly early so I lost time to that.

The Umpire Strikes Out: Decent level

www.dotcom.com: It is possible to save 1 minute in this level but it involves TV Canceling from the first TV to the enemy that is moving but it is extremely inconsistent.

This Old Cave: Such an annoying level due to the 2 TV cancels. I didn't go for the route that saves 20 seconds.

Honey I Shrunk the Gecko: The 2nd half of this level run was so horrible I have 30 seconds to save.

Poltergex: Well played.

Mao Tse Tongue: Not great but not bad.

Samurai Night Fever: I can save 20 seconds on the last remote if I attempt the hard jump skip again to get to an icy fly early to skip most of the temple. I didn't go for the TV cancel of the 2nd TV because you could accidentally hit the gong that plays a cutscene that will softlock your game, ending the run.

Pain in the Asteroids: Played safe since this run was on pace for subbing the 2.

No Weddings and a Funeral: Once again, played safe. It was unfortunate that my waiting trick at 1:25:15 didn't work to make the platforms synth up.

Pangaea 90210: Can easily loose 1 minute and 30 seconds if I failed the TV cancel in this level. My way to get this TV cancel consistent is to not spam X and wait for when you should do your second tailwhip. If you have 28 silver remotes once you complete this level when using my hub route, then you have everything so far and don't need to check at the end to see if you got everything or not. You can get to the last secret level with just 27 silver remotes.

Bonus levels like “Trouble In Uranus” and “Lizard in a China Shop” can make you loose minutes because of 1 missed jump or something. I'm glad that I got through these with no major mistakes.

Texas Chainsaw: Nailed this level.

Lava Daba Doo: You can jump to the rising platform at the very beginning. You need to spam X when you first control Gex while moving right and up at the same time.

Mazed and Confused: You can TV cancel off the first TV.

Channel Z: For the last hit, I have this set up where you jump into Rez at the same time he shoots lasers from his eye from a certain spot so that I can move to any buttons that are going to open every time most likely if executed perfectly. First I searched for the group of 4 TVs that Rez is watching you. Then to the left of the TVs there is another static TV. I turn the camera so that the top left corner of that TV is barely on screen. Then I moved Gex all the back as far as he can. I ran and karate kick towards Rez when I can't see his white fingernails anymore on his third swipe. I wonder if there is a better spot to run at Rez. Jumping to Rez like this was originally found by Exe. Here's his video, a nice trick.

End: Even though this run is improvable, considering all of the precise tricks and skips, I'm glad that I subbed the 2. Thanks for reading all of this and watching my run!
