Here is my take on explaining one of the most unforgiving skips in the Gex trilogy. This skip that is in PS version of Mythology Network lets you spawn beside the checkpoint right after dying on the green pad of the TV by the flying rezling. Unfortunately, this skip is really precise and RNG heavy. I wouldn’t go for this skip until you at least sub 2:40 in Gex 3 100%.

So what makes this skip so RNG heavy? There are multiple flying paths that the flying rezling does at each of the 6 spots he goes to that are in front of the TV. He also goes around counterclockwise all the time. Here is a diagram of the 6 spots.

//////TV///////
1st/2nd/3rd
4th/5th/6th

The green pad of the TV is set up higher then its surrounding ground (in this case, it’s the clouds) compared to other TVs. The good thing about this is that Gex can run against the pad without going in the TV. But the really bad part about this is that the pad is so high that it creates an outside boarder that doesn’t let Gex touch the green pad when he dies sometimes. Also, don’t tailwhip when going against the pad or else you will go in the TV. The rezling might push you back or off to the side of where you want to land too. That could happen because he hits you at a certain angle.

I don’t know this for sure but it is worth mentioning that certain flight paths could be manipulated by having different camera distances away from Gex while being stationary at a certain spot. For example, the rezling will only do 5 total paths and not more paths in one spot. There’s a chance that making the rezling attacking you could change the paths. There are still a lot of things to be tested with this. It might be how the rezling was programmed but I won’t go into finding out why.

The flight paths also have the potential to be slightly to the left or to the right more then the main paths that are shown in this video.

The rezling always go after you if you are in front of the TV. What I find interesting is that when you run against the pad, you are not within range but as soon as you stop, you will be in range.

There is actually a ton of ways to get this skip. You can let the rezling push you onto the TV. You can go beside the TV and aggro the rezling that way and many more ways. But what I find the most consistent after so many hours put into this is to run against the pad and have the rezling hit you midair after slightly moving to the TV.

So my method with this skip is to jump when the rezling is in the 2nd area of the diagram, facing the TV. The rezling can either go clockwise or counterclockwise during that moment. What we want is the counterclockwise way.

Here is the information about all of the Flight paths in this video.

1: 00:18 Counterclockwise path. This path pattern is the best one because almost always when the rezling spin clockwise first to the right of Gex, he will do a counterclockwise turn into the spot where you want to get hit by him.

2: 00:30 Counterclockwise path. The same path pattern that the first one takes except the path is more to the right.

3: 00:35 Counterclockwise path. The rezling takes 2 counterclockwise spins. The first one is too far for the skip but when he does the 2nd spin, he is in the position where you want to jump.

4: 00:40 Counterclockwise path. He does exactly the same movement that the 3rd flight path does but more to the left.

5: 00:44 Counterclockwise path. I only got the rest of the counterclockwise paths when I have the maximum camera setting. I haven’t tried too much with any of the rest of the counterclockwise paths yet.

6: 00:49 Counterclockwise path.

7: 00:54 Counterclockwise path.

8: 00:59 Clockwise path. Completely ignore all of the clockwise paths when attempting just the counterclockwise method.

9: 01:04 Clockwise path. Same movement like number 8 but everything is to the left more.

10: 01:07 Clockwise path. The first spin that he does looks like paths 3 or 4 but for the 2nd spin, he spins clockwise instead of counterclockwise.

11: 01:11 Clockwise path. This is the rare path where the first spin looks like he is doing paths 1 or 2 but he spins clockwise instead of counterclockwise at the pad.

There are more flight paths I think.

Have the second camera zoom setting when attempting this method. A thing to know about is that some gameplay movement changes the camera from being at different distances. Since the jumping execution part of this trick is so short, you can then move to the left of the green pad to avoid going into the TV if the rezling didn’t hit you.

Hopefully someone can find even a better method of getting this skip because even the best setup that I could find is very precise. I think that getting the skip with every flight path is possible with great setups. Best of luck with this skip. Thanks for reading this and watching my video!
