I did this run months ago and I was waiting on beating this run but I never got to it. Since I have other plans now other then attempting this category, I figured that I should upload it. This run had a really slow start and 40 seconds was wasted on Rez. Other then that, it is decent. Most levels aren’t fully routed yet and I think this can go down to a sub 1:55. This category is a fun category to play but it is also really frustrating because you can loose a minute on 1 simple mistake easily in parts of the category. I now have the N64 versions of Gex 2 and 3 so I plan do to runs of them. I am also creating a small Gex 3 100% guide for the PS version. Gex 2 on the N64 is a different category then Gex 2 on the PS.

Here’s my thoughts on each level.

Smellraiser: Collecting the collectibles was kind of slow. Not my best start.

Out of Toon: Could have been better with the first half.

Frankensteinfeld: I think it’s faster to ignore the firefly when going for the first remote.

Fine Tooning: I have 50 seconds to save in this level - it went that bad.

The Umpire Strikes Out: This level went great.

www.dotcom.com: I seem to can’t find the perfect route for this level due to collectibles appearing and disappearing every time I change tiers. Here’s a skip that was found after this run - so 40 seconds to save here.

This Old Cave: I wonder if there is a much better route for this level that involves using the Any% skip where you jump from the checkpoint ledge to the other TVs using the icy fly.

Honey I Shrunk the Gecko: Good execution on the first remote but bad execution on the 2nd and 3rd remotes.

Poltergex: This level is my favorite level.

Mao Tse Tongue: This level may be the level with the most skips found.

Samurai Night Fever: I like this level better then the other Kung Fu level.

Pain in the Asteroids: Good execution but I could save more time on this level if I go for more skips.

No Weddings and a Funeral: Not perfectly played. I need to find out how to manipulate going through the blowers in this level.

Pangaea90210: If I failed the TV cancel then that's run over.

Bonus Levels: Kind of nerve racking to go through bonuses where you can easily loose a minute. Bad execution on levels.

Texas Chainsaw Manicure: Nailed every skip besides the ending.

Lava Daba Doo: You can actually jump to the rising platform at the very beginning.

Mazed and Confused: Even though I like the atmosphere and the level design, I don’t like this level as the final level of the game casually. You can get into this level with 27 silver remotes so if you see 28 silver remotes when you are all done with Pangaea90210 (with my route), you don’t need to check if you have everything.

Rez: Can easily loose loads of time on this boss. For the last hit, I have this set up where you jump into Rez at the same time he shoots lasers from his eye from a certain spot so that I can move to any buttons that are going to open every time most likely if executed perfectly. First I searched for the group of 4 TVs that Rez is watching you. Then to the left of the TVs there is another static TV. I turn the camera so that the top left corner of that TV is barely on screen. Then I moved Gex all the back as far as he can. I ran straight towards Rez when I can’t see his white fingernails anymore on his third swipe. I was a bit early running towards him. But anyways, since his lasers pushed me to the left of the button, he didn’t hit the button and it cost me 40 seconds to have him hit a button again. I wonder if there is a better spot to run at Rez. Jumping to Rez like this was originally found by Exe. Here’s his video, kind of a cool trick.

I can say that as a speedgame Gex 3 100% is easily more enjoyable and less frustrating then Gex 2 100% when going for goals mainly because Gex 2 have a bunch of precise skips and so much can go wrong. But Gex 2 100% is friendlier then Gex 3 100% to start out with if you don’t know the crucial strategies to prevent certain glitches in Gex 3. I think Gex 2 100% on the N64 can go down to sub 1:50 or even lower. Thanks for reading this and watching my run!
