How to Change Hz or Refresh Rate on Display using Windows 10 or 11
To change the refresh rate (Hz) of your display on Windows 10 or 11, follow these steps:
Step 1: Open Display Settings
Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.
Scroll down and click Advanced display settings.
Under Display information, choose the monitor you want to adjust (if you have multiple displays).
Step 2: Change Refresh Rate
Click Display adapter properties for Display X (X is your monitor number).
In the new window, go to the Monitor tab.
Under Screen refresh rate, click the drop-down menu and select your desired Hz value.
Click Apply, then OK.
Step 3: Adjust Refresh Rate in Graphics Card Settings (Optional)
If Windows does not show the desired refresh rate, change it in your GPU control panel:
For NVIDIA (GeForce) Users
Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
Go to Display - Change resolution.
Select your monitor and under Refresh rate, choose your desired Hz.
Click Apply and OK.
For AMD (Radeon) Users
Open AMD Radeon Software.
Go to Settings -Display.
Find Refresh Rate and select the desired Hz.
For Intel Graphics Users
Open Intel Graphics Command Center.
Go to Display - Refresh Rate.
Select the desired Hz.
Step 4: Check Your Monitor and Cable
đš Ensure your monitor supports the refresh rate youâre trying to use.
đš Use a high-quality cable:
DisplayPort 1.2+ (Best for high refresh rates)
HDMI 2.0+ (For 144 Hz or higher at 1080p/1440p)
Step 5: Verify Game and App Settings (If Needed)
Open your gameâs graphics settings and manually select the correct Hz.
Disable V-Sync or frame rate caps if needed.
