About this video: In this video, we show you how to download and install a minimap in Minecraft 1.16.3. Specifically, we show you how to download and install Xaero’s Minimap 1.16.3 in Minecraft. Xaero’s Minimap is one of the more popular Minecraft minimaps. It is a more simple map that allows you to zoom out, zoom in, and set waypoints in Minecraft pretty easily. It also has a server friendly version which is another thing that makes it a truly awesome Minecraft minimap. So, let’s go ahead and install a minimap in Minecraft 1.16.3!
The first set of getting a Minecraft minimap is actually download and installing Forge for Minecraft 1.16.3. You can find our official Forge tutorial in the description above. It will show you everything that you need to know in order to setup Forge. It even goes over some of the potential issues you could have when installing Forge for your minimap mod.
After you have Forge, it is time to download Xaero’s Minimap. You can find the download link for 1.16.3 Xaero’s Minimap in the description above. Once you are there, scroll download and click the green ‘Download Xaero’s Minimap’ button. This will take you to the official download page for Xaero’s Minimap. Here, look at the right-hand sidebar and scroll down until you see the ‘Minecraft 1.16’ section. Under this section, you will see a file that has ‘for Forge 1.16.3’ in the title. Click the purple download button next to this file. You will the need to keep/save the file depending on your browser.
Now that you have Xaero’s Minimap downloaded, it is time to install Xaero’s Minimap in Minecraft 1.16.3. This is pretty easy. Just hit the Windows Key on your keyboard and ‘R’ at the exact same time. This will open up the ‘Run’ application. In the text box, type ‘%appdata%’, and hit enter. This will open your roaming folder. You will have a ‘.minecraft’ folder here. Open that, and you will see a ‘mods’ folder. If you don’t have a mods folder, just create one. To install a minimap in Minecraft 1.16.3, just drag-and-drop Xaero’s Minimap into this mods folder to get it installed.
You aren’t completely done though. You still need to open up the Minecraft Launcher, click the little arrow next to the Play button, select the ‘Forge’ profile, and click Play. Minecraft 1.16.3 will now open up with a minimap installed!
